Colorado Trail - July 6, 2025

Segments 2 and 3 and first part of the Lost Creek Wilderness detour. This day took us from the South Platte river to Goose Creek campground.

This was possibly the hottest day of the trail. We stopped at a fire station near the end of Segment 2 that has a water spigot for trail users. The fire station had a sign that said “No Defecating” near the water spigot. I don’t want to know the genesis of the sign.

We met two other riders at the end of Segment 3 that took a wrong turn and missed their pick up point. We shared food, water and maps to help them find their ride home. We also saw a small bison herd.

Camping at Goose Creek campground was a great find as the creek was flowing and we were able to cool off and recover by laying in the creek. The CG was also well shaded.

Mark continues to go above and beyond and cook dinner, set up an outdoor shower and pack up our gear.

47 miles and 7400 feet of gain
